Shaka D’akan is a Ghanaian-born artist, songwriter, and producer whose music bridges reggae, world music, Afro-influences, lovers rock, and conscious contemporary sounds. His artistry is defined by emotionally rich songwriting, uplifting messages, and rhythms that invite listeners into both reflection and movement.
With a sound that is atmospheric, energizing, and deeply human, Shaka D’akan creates music centered on love, healing, resilience, hope, and personal awakening. His songs often explore the emotional realities of life while offering a message of strength, connection, and inner purpose.
Born in Africa, Shaka discovered his love for music at age 15 and later continued his journey through London and New York City, where he sharpened his craft and expanded his musical vision. In New York, he worked as a producer for leading artists, an experience that helped shape his perspective as both a creator and collaborator.
A major milestone in his artistic journey came with the highlife album Anopa Hema, followed by songs such as Love Ya and Cherie, which highlighted his vocal presence and signature ability to blend sincerity with groove. Now based in Millcreek, Utah, Shaka D’akan continues to release original music while also supporting developing artists through production and creative guidance.
His mission is simple but powerful: to make music that inspires, heals, and connects people to themselves, to one another, and to the world around them.
